What we collect
You can use the whole site without an account and without giving us your name or email. We use privacy-friendly analytics that count page views and general information such as device type and country, without cookies and without building a profile of you. Our web host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. If you email us, we keep your email and message so we can reply.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure how ads perform. You can turn off personalised ads in Google’s Ad Settings, and learn more about how Google uses information at google.com/policies/technologies/partner-sites. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Where the law requires it, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown.
Affiliate links
Some links to accommodation, tours and gear are affiliate links. If you click one, the partner site may set a cookie so it can tell us a booking or sale came from this site. We do not receive your personal details from them.
Maps and your location
The maps load map images from a map tile provider, which receives your IP address like any web request. The “Near me” button asks your browser for your location only when you press it. Your location is used in your browser to sort the list and is not sent to us.
Sharing and storage
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the services named above, which run the site, show ads and measure visits, and some of them may store data outside Australia.
